We switched our ferret to ZuPreem and most of the odor went away. She never missed a beat when we switched and she is using the litter box less also. We really like this food. It's also about 6 bucks more at PetSmart so that takes care of the shipping from ferret.com

My ferrets are very picky, but they love their new Zupreem diet. It is very high quality. There is not as much waste, their litter box does not smell, and they could barely wait for me to get it out of the bag before they dove into it happy as larks.
Well worth the price!

Selecting your ferret's diet is one of the most critically important decisions you can make for the health and well-being of your furballs. After careful research and comparisons of almost all commercial ferret diets on the market, I have come to the conclusion that this is probably the best single ferret diet you can provide your fuzzies, especially if you feed a single diet. I would recommend that you feed your ferrets at least a combination of 2 high quality foods early on with occasional healthy treats due to their olfactory imprinting, for variety & interest, and in case one of the products becomes unavailable. Zupreem is my primary food (largest proportion of their diet, 75%) that I provide my loved ones as it has one of the best combinations of ingredients in the right proportions with an excellent nutritional composition analysis:
Ingredients: Chicken Meal, Chicken Fat, Ground Wheat, Wheat Flour, Chicken, Egg Product, Beet Pulp, Natural Chicken Flavor, Brewers Yeast, Flax Seed, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Iodized Salt, Taurine, DL-Methionine, Natural Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary Extract, Citric Acid, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Chloride, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement.
* Guaranteed Analysis: Protein (min) 40%, Fat (min) 20%, Fiber (max) 2%, Moisture (max) 10%
High animal/meat based protein, high fat, low fiber, no sugars, no stinky fish, no corn or preservatives, less by-products, easy to digest = happy healthy ferrets! With a healthy diet, your ferrets will have better absorption/digestion, need to eat less and less often and therefore have fewer poops and less smelly poop! Another plus is that Zupreem happens to be one of the more reasonably priced diets as well. As with any diet change, you should gradually introduce the new food to your ferrets in increasing proportions mixed in with their old diet. All my fuzzies are healthy and love their “crispies”! Peanut, Pretzel and I recommend and happily rate this a “5 star” product. (No, I do not work for Zupreem though I am a licensed healthcare professional.) Tip: Comparison shop online. It is usually cheaper than in retail stores.
